Welcome to the 2025 Season at Overlee – A Message from Overlee’s Board President
Welcome to what I expect to be another amazing season at Overlee! As I mentioned in my December email, as soon as last season ended, we got to work on preparing for our 68th(!) season. Our Board members, management team, staff, and volunteers have all been working hard for months to get ready for opening weekend.
A big thank you to Greg York and staff for all the hard work that has gone into readying the pool with many members already having enjoyed lap swimming during the extended season.
Starting next Friday, May 23rd, all members will enjoy our many improvements made during the offseason including: leveling and re-sodding Snack Shack Park with uplighting added to the trees, a new larger shade structure in Snack Shack Park, added shade structure near the volleyball court, added shade umbrellas at the baby pool, structural improvements to the lap pool, and improved aesthetics near the entrance including new on-brand orange Overlee letters. Those that walk to Overlee crossing Langston at John Marshall will notice construction fencing and signage as Arlington County is prepping for construction to begin on promised safety improvements, namely expanded medians and flashing beacons. With any luck, those improvements will be completed before the end of the season.

All pools and the volleyball court open this Friday, May 23rd at 4 pm. To celebrate the pool opening and Memorial Day weekend, we will have moonbounces on Sunday and Monday in Snack Shack Park, along with an ice cream social on Sunday. I hope everyone is able to enjoy time at the pool during the three-day weekend, fingers crossed the weather cooperates!
Please check Overlee’s website, www.overlee.org, for the pool calendar and upcoming social events. On Saturday, May 31st, annual favorite Starcrush will be back for the fourth consecutive year. Get your requests ready as the band goes on around 5 pm!

Moonbounces in Snack Shack Park all day Sunday and Monday
Synchro See It Try It on Sunday, 3:45pm in the Dive Well:
Interested but not 100% sure about joining Synchro? Come to the Dive Well this Sunday, May 25 at the 3:45 pm swim break to watch a synchro routine. Then, stay to try out some Synchro moves in the pool with Overlee coaches.
Scoops 2 U Ice Cream Social at 4:00pm on Sunday. We will have plenty of ice cream scooped by the wonderful Overlee Staff. Please join us to celebrate the start of the Overlee summer season! (If there’s ice cream left over, it will be scooped on Monday starting at 3pm until gone!)

Summer Group Lessons Registration Opening Soon: The Summer Group Lessons program will have six weeks of lessons held Tuesday-Thursday organized by level and age.
Guest Information: Active Member Families may bring up to:
— nine (9) guests on weekdays and
— four (4) guests on weekends & holidays
For example, a family of 5 may only bring 4 guests on Saturday afternoon, not 20. Click here for more information. Guest Passes can be purchased in advance by purchasing guest credits through your online account – either single swim passes for $7 or a 10-swim pass booklet for $65. Single swim guest passes can also be purchased at the front desk via cash/check/credit card for $7 per person on the day of the visit. Passes for childcare providers or summer house guests need to be purchased online through your account.
Check-In at the Pool: All members are required to check-in at the front desk prior to entry into the pool area. Staff will be available to assist patrons who need to enter through the back gate. Please state and spell your last name slowly to the desk attendant who will then log you in. Please be patient with our staff when checking in, especially during busy times.
Emails: All Overlee communication with members is done via email. During the summer, the list is set up one time at the beginning of the season and then updated through edits. If you would like to add or change your email address in this mailing list (not your profile) so that you can receive pool news and updates at your preferred email address, please contact members@overlee.org.
Directory: We encourage all members to opt in to the online directory in Member Splash. To opt in, go to your online account and scroll down to the member directory button on the left side of your profile page. The directory will include the names of all Adult members, email addresses, and phone numbers (if listed in the profiles). You can opt in or out of the directory at any time. To access the on-line directory, click on the Member Directory tab in the blue bar at the top of your profile page.

Swim: The Overlee Swim Team kicked off practices this week, but there’s still time to join!

We encourage all families to sign their kids up! The Overlee Swim Team offers a fantastic experience for swimmers of all levels and is a great way to be part of the Overlee community.
Full refunds are available through the end of May, so families are welcome to try it out before making a full commitment.
