Megan Goodell
Head Coach

Megan Goodell has coached for Overlee Synchro since 2017. Megan has also coached nationally competing athletes at NoVa Synchro since 2019. She has coached at many levels and ages since then for both recreational and competitive teams.
Megan has been involved in synchronized swimming since she started at Overlee Synchro when she was 10. She competed at her first U.S. Nationals in 2019 where her team won 3rd place and competed in national events all over the U.S. until 2020.
She is a USAS Level 3F judge and is in the process of completing the Level 1 USAS synchro coaching course.
Megan is getting a degree from James Madison University in Special Education with a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). She is a substitute teacher for Arlington Public Schools in her free time.
Anne Licato
Assistant Coach
Anne Licato has been a coach for Overlee Synchro since 2020. Before that, she junior coached for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. She started her synchronized swimming journey on the Overlee Synchro team in 2013, and she has returned to the program every year since.
Since 2014, Anne has been a competitive synchronized swimmer with NOVA Synchro. She has competed at the local, regional, and national levels. This summer, she plans to compete at the Junior Olympic Championships in Hampton, Virginia.
Anne is a current student and IB Diploma Candidate at Washington-Liberty High School and will be entering her first year at William & Mary. Anne is also an active Girl Scout working to get her Gold Award and is president of the Washington-Liberty Key Club.
Sydney Purcell
Assistant Coach
Sydney Purcell has been a coach for Overlee Synchro since 2021. Before that, she was a substitute coach for the 2020 season. Her synchronized swimming experience began on the Overlee Synchro team in 2013, and she continued swimming for the team up until she became a coach.
Sydney is also currently a swimmer on NOVA Synchro, which she has been a part of since 2015. She has competed at a variety of both regional and national competitions including Ohio, New York, Texas, and Colorado. She plans to compete this summer at the Junior Olympic Championships in Gainesville, Florida.
Sydney is a current student at Yorktown High School, close to entering her senior year. In her free time, she works as a lifeguard at the Yorktown Aquatic Center.
Lauren Edwards
Substitute Coach
Lauren Edwards is going to spend her first season as an Overlee Synchro coach this summer! Lauren has been a part of the Overlee team as a swimmer since 2016, where she got her start in synchro, and she has plenty of both swim and synchro experience under her belt.
Lauren currently swims for local club NOVA Synchro, which she has been a part of since 2016. She has competed with NOVA at a variety of regional and national competitions in Arizona, New York, Texas, and Colorado, to name a few. She plans to compete this summer at the Junior Olympic Championships in Hampton, Virginia.
Lauren is currently enrolled in Yorktown High School, where she is a rising Senior. When she’s not at synchro practice, she works as a lifeguard at the Yorktown Aquatic Center. In her free time, she enjoys racing for the Yorktown swim team and going to the gym.
Mia Edwards
Substitute Coach
This is Mia’s first year as a coach for Overlee Synchro! She’s an experienced swimmer, who has been swimming synchro competitively for the past 7 years, since 2015. She has been swimming with Overlee for the past 6 years.
Mia swims on NOVA synchronized swim team on the senior team, meaning she swims at an advanced level. She has competed nationally, in meets including the Junior Olympics, a nationwide competition that features professional swimmers from the United States.
Currently, Mia is a freshman at Yorktown High School. She takes pride in her academic and physical achievements. She enjoys tackling new challenges and taking initiative.
