Member Update – July 12, 2024

Note to All Overlee Members: On Sunday, July 14th, everyone is required to vacate the premises at 6:00 PM. All pools (including the Lap Pool), decks, volleyball court, grounds, and facilities close at 6:00pm. Kids/Teen Night begins at 6:30 PM.

Kids/Teen Night is Sunday, July 14th:

Kids (ages 5 and older) and Teens rule the pool at Overlee on Sunday, July 14th beginning at 6:30pm! We’ll have a DJ, pizza, drinks, and snacks! Click here to register and for more details!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Parent volunteers/chaperones are needed to help (at no charge). If you are willing to help, please sign up here:

Each volunteer slot is an hour long; however you are welcome to sign up for multiple hourly slots if interested. Thanks for your help making this a great night for the kids!

Ice Cream Social and Synchro Show – Wednesday, July 17th:

Everyone is invited for free ice cream (scooped by the Swim Team) and to see the Overlee Synchro’s Version of “The ERAS Tour” Synchro Show on Wednesday, July 17th (rain date: July 18). Ice cream will be scooped from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in Snack Shack Park.

At 8:00 PM*, Overlee’s “The ERAS Tour” Synchro Show will begin in the Lap Pool.

*Main, social, and baby pools close at 8:00 PM. Patio, upper terrace, grills, and volleyball courts open until 9:00 PM. Members and guests are asked to maintain respectful noise levels during the show.

Vote in the Board Election by Thursday, July 18th: Click here for Candidate information and Official Ballot. For 2024, there are 6 candidates running for 5 open seats. Voting for Board members is by hard-copy ballot only.
Voting Procedures:

One ballot per household. All ballots MUST be signed by an adult member of the member household.
Completed ballots may be submitted in any of the following ways BUT NOT ELECTRONICALLY.

Ballots can be:

Mailed to: Overlee Nominating Committee, P.O. Box 5346, Arlington, VA 22205;
OR
Dropped off in the box at the front desk;
OR
Brought to the membership meeting.

The ballots will be counted during the meeting and results will be announced prior to adjournment.

Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, July 18th: All members are encouraged to attend the annual General Membership Meeting on Thursday, July 18th in the clubhouse at 7:00pm. Come vote in the election of Board members, learn about the Administrative and Operational statuses, hear updates on activities, and ask any questions you may have.

Reminder for Lap Swimmers:

Please be mindful of other lap swimmers in close proximity while using hand paddles, kick boards, fins and other training tools to ensure others aren’t accidentally hit with them.

Pool Hours for Friday, July 12 – Sunday, July 21:

Volleyball, Upper Decks, Foosball, Ping Pong, Cornhole, Grassy Areas, etc. are open only when the Main/Social/Baby pools are open. Volleyball is open during developmental dive meets but closed during developmental/competitive swim meets and Tuesday competitive dive meets.

Friday, July 12

All Pools: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM (except when used by teams as described below)

Lap Pool: 6:00 AM – 11:00 AM, 12 Noon – 3:30 PM, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM (M-F, except 12:45 PM – 2:00 PM Wed, reserved for swim practice); 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM (M, W); 9:00 PM – 10:00 PM (Tues, Thurs) (lap swimming in main pool during dive meet)

Swim Team Practice: 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM (main pool daily), 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM (main pool shared daily), 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM (lap pool daily); 12:45 PM – 2:00 PM (W, lap pool); 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM (lap pool T,Th)

Dive Team Practices: 10:00 AM -12:00 PM (M-F dive well); 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM (MWF dive well)

Dive Competitive Meet (Tuesday, July 9, 6:00 PM) – dive well reserved 3:45 PM until 15 mins after meet. At the 4:45 PM break, the Main pool will Close. Volleyball closed during meet. At 5:00 PM, the main pool will re-open for lap swimming and the Lap pool will re-open for general swim. General swim closes at 9:00 PM and lap swimming closes at 10:00 PM.

Dive All-Arlington Developmental Meet (Thursday, July 11, 6:00 PM) — dive well reserved 3:45 PM until 15 mins after meet. At 4:45 PM, lap pool opens for general swimming, and main pool switches to lap swimming, until end of meet.

Parent/Dive Happy Hour – Friday, July 12 (dive well, no other impact on pools)

Synchro Practices: 8:00 AM – 9:45 AM (T-W-Th, dive well); 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM (Wed, dive well); 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM (Fri, lap pool)

Adult Lessons with Kathy Koczyk (Friday, Lap Pool): 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM (every Friday thru 8/30)

Saturday, July 13

Swim All-Overlee Meet (Monday, July 15) — Main Pool (including dive well) closing at 4:45 PM; Lap Pool split for laps and general swimming beginning at 5:00 PM. If the meet ends prior to 8:15 PM, the Main Pool will re-open 15 minutes following meet ending and Lap Pool will return to 6 lanes of lap swimming.

Dive Competitive Meet (Tuesday, July 16) – dive well reserved 3:45 PM until 15 mins after meet. At the 4:45 PM break, the Main pool will Close. Volleyball closed during meet. At 5:00 PM, the main pool will re-open for lap swimming and the Lap pool will re-open for general swim. General swim closes at 9 pm and lap swimming closes at 10:00 PM.

Synchro Show (Wednesday, July 17) — Lap Pool Closes at 7:00 PM (Show Starts at 8:00 PM). Main, social, and baby pools close at 8:00 PM. Patio, upper terrace, grills, and volleyball courts open until 9:00 PM. Members and guests are asked to maintain respectful noise levels during the show.

Synchro Show (rain date) — Thursday, July 18

Dive Banquet – Friday, July 19 (no impact on pools)

Adult Lessons with Kathy Koczyk (Friday, Lap Pool): 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM (every Friday thru 8/30)

Saturday, July 20

Divisional Swim Meet

All Pools will open 15 minutes after the conclusion of the meet (expected opening 1:00 PM)

All Pools Close at 9:00 PM

Reciprocity is being offered by Chesterbrook, Tuckahoe, Donaldson Run, Highland, and Old Keene Mill for Overlee members while the meet is at Overlee.

Sunday, July 21

All Pools: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Lap Pool: 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM (½ lap, ½ general)
