Member Update – June 26, 2025

Overlee is hosting its 16th Annual July 4th Volleyball Tournament on Thursday the 3rd and Friday the 4th with elimination on Friday.

Teams should be at least 5 members. There will be round robin group play to decide the teams which will play in a single elimination bracket. Round robin will be rally scoring to 25, and the tournament side-out to 21.

New Weather Tool Trial: Overlee is trying a new online weather platform being used by various clubs nationwide called Perry weather. In addition to other weather data, this system identifies lightning within 8 miles of Overlee and provides a 30-minute countdown from the last strike. It can be found on our website under “weather alerts” here: https://overlee.org/calendar-2/ovlweatherupdates/.

Season 2025 Reminders

1. Enter via the Front Entrance ONLY.  Arlington County Health Code does not allow entry via the back gate.
2. Please respect posted opening and closing times. At closing, the staff needs members to be cleared off the pool deck, the terraces and out of the picnic areas. Please plan in advance: members should pack up so that all areas are completely clear at closing time, not 15 or more minutes later
3. Lap Swimmers, Please Give Notice – Lap Swimmers must let the swimmer already using the lane know of his/her entry into the shared lane to prevent injuries/collisions.
4. Please enjoy the shallow end basketball hoop, but please be respectful to others using the main pool around the basketball hoops – no one likes being hit by a stray ball. Please limit the duration of your game so that others, especially the younger/shorter kids, may have a turn. If the main pool is crowded, no pool basketball will be allowed. And remember, these balls are specifically designed for water – No bouncing the pool basketballs on the pool deck.
5. Please remind children to treat the Foosball and Ping-Pong tables with care so they’ll last longer and be available to use the entire season.
6. Arlington County Health code does not permit glass, food, or drinks on the pool deck at any time, except for plastic water bottles.
7. Please clean up all your trash and put away any equipment (noodles, fins, etc.) before leaving the facility.
8. Be Gentle with the Umbrellas – We’ve had a few umbrellas break recently so want to remind everyone to take care when adjusting them.  If you over crank the umbrella to get it to tilt/swivel, it will break.
9. Children must pass a swim test before going off the diving boards or swimming in water over their shoulders.  Please see a manager to arrange for the test.
10. Walk! Don’t run on pool deck and terraces.
11. Lap Pool Deck Reserved for Swim Team – The area around the lap pool is reserved for swim team use 11:00am – 12noon Monday through Friday and 3:30pm – 5:00pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please do not use the deck area around the lap pool during these times.
