Team Updates for June 30th – July 7th

Dive:  Overlee Dive Team had a fun season opener at Sideburn Run on Tuesday.  The final score was Sideburn Run 41, Overlee 31.
With several divers out of town, we still had many great performances, and many divers competing for the first time.  Our top finishers were:

  • Freshman Girls – Izzy Eisenberg 2nd place, Paige Baskin 3rd place
  • Freshman Boys – Chris Cobey 2nd place, Nate Cohen 3rd place
  • Junior Girls – Olivia Morgan 1st place (In her first Dive meet ever!)
  • Intermediate Girls – Sophia Bailey 1st place
  • Intermediate Boys – Matthew Kress 2nd place
  • Senior Girls – Hannah Karlin 2nd place, Annika Creedon 3rd place
  • Senior Boys – Jonathan Teitelbaum 1st place, Thomas Hassett 3rd place

Wednesday marked the first Doughnut Dive Wednesday of the season (Happy Birthday Tammy!), where divers attempt new tricks and are awarded with a yummy treat after practice.
We had a great first Developmental Dive meet with Tuckahoe on Thursday, with 58 divers hitting the boards.
On July 4th, the Dive Team will have their annual Showcase at 12:30PM.
Wednesday, July 5th will be our first Home Meet against Mansion House at 6:00PM.  The Dive Bar will be open too, so come by, get some food, and see us flip and twist our way through Division 1!!!!
Swim:  Congratulations to our Flying Fish for a great win against Highlands this past Saturday!  Despite the dire weather predictions, the only thunder was in the water!!
Coming up, please don your Red White and Blue and cheer on our Flying Fish at 9:00AM this Saturday (7/1) as we take on the McLean Marlins @ McLean (1700 Margie Drive).  And we’ll be back at McLean at 6:00PM on Monday (7/3) for our Monday Night Meet. The theme is also Red White & Blue!
Synchro:  As part of the July 4th festivities there will be a Synchro See It & Try It demo from 12:45pm – 1:15PM with the Head Coach and swimmers from NoVa Synchro team.
