Please join us at the Annual General Membership Meeting February 18th at 7pm in the Clubhouse.
With the approach of the Overlee Community Association’s annual meeting in February, a nominating committee has been formed to recruit and recommend a slate of candidates to the general membership for election to the Board. The slate of candidates–along with a ballot–will be published in the January newsletter. Members (one ballot per household) have an opportunity to vote in two ways: either by returning the ballot via mail or by attending the Annual Membership Meeting and voting in person. There will be four (4) open Board seats up for vote at the Annual Meeting.
The nominating committee is seeking Association members who would be interested in serving on the Board. Board members act as the governing body for the Association and a description of the Board’s roles and responsibilities can be found on the web in our Bylaws.
The Board of Directors holds a regular meeting once a month. In addition, each Board member is responsible for overseeing an aspect of the Association’s operations, activities or facilities that require work outside the monthly meetings. Board members also serve on board committees that examine, discuss and recommend policies or programs to the Board at large for decision.
Board members are elected by the general membership, serve three year terms and are unpaid. Those individuals, who would like to be nominated to run for the Board must be an Overlee member (not a dependent of a Member) with an active membership, submit a bio to be printed in the January newsletter, and attend the Annual Membership meeting.
Members interested in serving on the Board should contact the Nominating Committee at [email protected]
Members should receive their 2014 Overlee Member Directories in the mail Monday through Wednesday. If you haven’t received yours by Thursday, please contact Maureen McManus at [email protected]
We apologize for the delay in directories this year. We had a late change in our directory production team and shifted to AtoZ directories which produces many directories for local schools.
The new provider will offer more features for members including a mobile phone app and the opportunity to advertise. We’ll roll out these features over the next year, so look for updates!
Thanks again for your patience.
Join us for the Summer General Membership meeting Wednesday July 23rd from 7-9 pm in the Clubhouse. The first half hour is for socializing!
Your Board of Directors and managers will provide updates and seek Member input on the following topics:
- Budgets and financials
- Capital plan and repairs
- Future amenities
The membership meeting is a great chance to meet fellow members, learn about Overlee and discuss how we can make Northern Virginia’s best pool even better!
Overlee’s been open a few weeks and there are a few rules that we need to reiterate as we head into the busy season.
See the NEW Top 5 Rules here
We’ve added some context for the rules to help answer Member’s questions.
If you disagree with a rule or have questions about its implementation, ask to speak with a manager or take your concerns to a Board Member. Contact info for both can be found here or in the Overlee Directory.
The Popular Adult Swim Clinic starts this Friday 8-8:30pm and meets at the lap pool.
Instructor Kathy Koczyk returns to teach adults who never formally learned to swim or would like to improve their skills in a comfortable setting.
Adult Swim Clinic is a great way to increase confidence in the water and learn to take advantage of all Overlee has to offer.
Check the Front Desk for more information.
Current Member cards were mailed on Monday morning (5/19) and should arrive in the next few days.
New Member cards are still at the printer’s so there will be a bit of delay – hopefully, they will arrive by the end of the week.
If your cards do not arrive by Friday:
-go to Front Desk, and give attendant your name and address. They have a list of everyone who is to receive a card, so there’s no problem using the pool if your card has not arrived.
-please contact Maureen McManus at [email protected] to get the status of your card
Sorry for the inconvenience!
